Winrar
Eugene Roshal of win.rar GmbH created WinRAR, a trialware file archiver programme for Windows. It can build and browse RAR and ZIP archives, as well as unpack a variety of archive file formats. WinRAR embeds CRC32 or BLAKE2 checksums for each file in each archive to allow the user to verify the integrity of the archive. WinRAR can create self-extracting, encrypted, multi-part archives.
WinRAR is an application that can only be used on Windows. There is also an Android application called "RAR for Android." The command-line tools "RAR" and "UNRAR", as well as versions for macOS, Linux, FreeBSD, Windows CE, and MS-DOS, are related programmers.
The RAR file format and WinRAR have changed over time. In version 5.0, support for the RAR5 archive format was added, which uses the same RAR file extension as earlier versions;[13] the older RAR file format has since been referred to as RAR4. RAR5 archives are not supported by WinRAR versions prior to 5.0;[14] only older versions of WinRAR run on Windows versions prior to XP and cannot open RAR5 archives.
The maximum dictionary size in the RAR5 file format has been expanded to 1 GB; 11 various compression directory sizes ranging from 1 MB to 1 GB are available, with the default in version 5 increasing from 4 MB to 32 MB, often improving compression ratio. Encryption with AES,
When in CBC mode, the strength was increased from 128 to 256 bits. For files in RAR and ZIP archives, the maximum path length has been extended to 2,048 characters.
256-bit BLAKE2 file-hashing method instead of 32-bit CRC32, duplicate file identification, NTFS hard and symbolic links, and Quick Open record to allow big archives to be accessed faster are among the new features in v5.0.
The RAR5 file format eliminates individual file comments (but archive comments remain), authenticity checks, and specialized text and multimedia compression algorithms. The file name for split volumes in RAR5 has been modified from "archive name.rNN" to "archivename.partNN.rar."
